Networking : Soccer ...
Well what a few weeks this has been! Are you tired too from all the soccer on late night tv [if you're in Australia]?The whole nation has come together in a show of comradeship and it's been delightful to witness. Working as a team to give support to our soccer players overseas - it's bonded unlikely people together. I talked to an older neighbour in the elevator on Monday morning who looked exhausted, and when I asked him how we was, he said, "Sad.". Now this is not a normal response from a stranger, so I knew it was about our soccer loss. He went on to tell me about the game, and I couldn't help but think we might not have talked this much under other circumstances.
Sports and national events DO bring people closer, and in many cases new friendships and alliances are formed.
Which got me thinking about networking - which does the same kind of thing. There are a few networking groups around close to where I live and I've visited some of them to see if any of them is a group I could become involved in. What has happened instead is that I've been prompted to build a new website - one where I can gather all the names of networking groups and post them in one place.
